Frequently Asked Questions
What is the PSAT?
The PSAT is the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. The PSAT is a great primer for the SAT, and even the ACT, but it’s more than just a trial run. PSAT scores are used to identify National Merit Scholars and award merit scholarships!
What does the PSAT test?
The PSAT has two sections: Math and Evidence-Based Reading and Writing. You’ll encounter passage-based questions—sometimes accompanied by tables, graphs, and charts—and math problems drawing upon algebra and geometry.
Who can take the PSAT?
Only Juniors can take the PSAT Test in January. We are looking into an alternate practice test/date for Freshmen and Sophomores.
